Opie/Clancy

Opie/Clancy

ADORABLE!! Those eyes!! It’s Opie/Clancy a Reba-Reggie baby 8-10-07. Here’s an update from his mom (she’s talking about the pictures on our face book page, you can be a fan via our main website page)

Hi Barb, just wanted to send you a couple recent pictures of Clancy. Saw the picture of you in the bathroom trying to get ready with a “few” helpers, loved it! Its so funny how most standard poodles behave the same way, Clancy is always in the bathroom with me. Just wanted to tell you again how fantastic Clancy is! He goes everywhere with me, and it never fails that at least one person during the day fawns all over him wanting to know what breed he is! It always amazes me that people have no idea what a standard poodle looks like! Well thanks again, enjoy the pictures! Caroline Talmage

Gave all the puppies baths today, they are so soft and fluffy! Wonderful thick coats!! The new hair is coming in very kinky! They really don’t mind baths (last one in the laundry tub they are HUGE) or even the hair dryer. Goo LOVES to be brushed, keeps coming back for more, so adorable. I plug in the electric blanket when their wet and they all pile on. Patti loved it because she had everybody in one spot for a touch up eye cleaning. No shortage of entertainment here :)

Before and After

Before and After

I think that’s one of my favorite thing about poodles, they look so different with a haircut and there are ENDLESS possibilities! SO FUN! I have some oppinions about haircuts. I prefered them shaved although I do like some wooly for a change like Lexie, Patti Sue and Ruben. Not all poodles look good in all haircuts. A shorter nose (Checkers) looks better shaved. A long pointed nose (I really don’t have any Patti Sue maybe) looks better with a mustache. I think poms only look good on tall dogs (and not boys). Short tails look better shaved with no pretense of a pom. I do two haircuts (adults) every weekend so they pretty much get groomed every 5 weeks. I like grooming, it gives me individual time with each dog and I can really look them over for lumps, cuts etc.
The boys have all their shots. They did so good today (as expected), better in the car. Terri brought them ginger snaps and I didn’t let them eat much, which helps. Nothing bothers May, she is very comfortable in the car and she LOVES gingersnaps :)

Poodles and KIDS!!

Poodles and KIDS!!

It is no wonder that PARENTS magazine rates Standard Poodles number ONE with kids!! Bella (Fiesta’s big sister) loves Pamela’s niece and lets her do whatever she wants :) Such great dogs! a WELL kept secret!
Boys are getting their last round of shots tomorrow. Terri and I will be LUGGING these BIG 40lb boys to the vet (not leash trained) they are almost as tall as the girls so it’s not easy to carry them! Add that to the fact they go limp and it’s a chore! At least they do stairs now :)
They got some new bones and toys (the pre gutted ones) and are having a ball with keep away! I can’t believe the squeaker has stayed in a WHOLE DAY!! They are very amusing!! Here is a movie from today

Patti Sue at work!

Patti Sue at work!

Patti Sue is so funny, she goes from puppy to puppy cleaning every inch of them (the adults have gotten a break since she’s so busy with the pups) she INSISTS they comply and shows her teeth/bites their head if they object. They go limp and look at me with PLEADING eyes, it is so funny!! She takes her work seriously :) Steve/Gunner is Patti Sue and Ruben’s BEAUTIFUL son! Here’s what mom Carol said about her fabulous boy! Hi Ladies,
I wanted to share a couple of pictures of Gunner with his new haircut and his new fisherman knit sweater that I made him. He seems to like it okay, especially since its still snowing and cold here. He was starting to get mats from playing out in the snow and
getting wet. Also it was to warm in the house for him, so out came the clippers and look at him now. LOL. He looked like a huge bear prior to the hair cut. Joan kept telling me he was over weight, but he was all hair. He was 80 lbs a couple of weeks
ago, I stopped at the vet to weigh him. Barb you should be proud of him he is gorgeous.
Carol
I AM SO PROUD!! All our babies are fabulous!

Beau 4 years old

Beau 4 years old

Another year gone by (you KNOW I hate birthdays!) so fast too! Our good boy Beau is 4 today! He certainly makes fabulous babies, passes his wonderful personality on to his kids! He absolutely LOVES LOVES LOVES the water! the car, the pontoon and the girls :)
Playing with Francis Claire

Playing with Francis Claire

I started crate training the boys today and they are SO good! They have a chewy but generally the first couple days are pretty noisy, not these guys! They chew until bored then wait to be released, not a peep from them. VERY RARE! Not much rattles these guys, pretty much everything is okay with them! Saturday is their last round of shots. They weighed 34-38.4 lbs Monday (15 weeks). Ruben was 40lbs at 16 weeks and ended up to be 92lbs. These are going to be BIG BOYS!!
Sweet Mayflower is holding her own. She’s up here with me pretty much all the time. She too did very well in the crate, my little sweetie!!

Penny 2 years old

Penny 2 years old

Happy Birthday Penny, Chili, Berry/Sugie and Rusty/Bentley TWO years old today!! Penny’s face is so much like her mom REBA! So pretty! Chili is getting LOVED by his girl, he looks like his dad. Chili was born without a gall bladder (took awhile to figure that out) but he’s doing well and enjoying his spoiled life!
Chili and his girl

Chili and his girl

DARN that snow was short lived!! Muddy yard again :( pups like it, but can’t say I’m crazy about it!! They pretty much have “sit” mastered and they take treats very nice (there a couple weeks where giving them treats is like hand feeding piranha) not Mayflower, she is always a perfect lady. They are smart boys and as soon as they figured out they get a treat if they sit, that little butt slaps right down. They are SOOOOO CUTE!! Jealous too, little mouth fight break out on my lap if somebody else is getting attention. My babies!

Palmer 14 weeks

Palmer 14 weeks

ADORABLE PALMER littermate to our parti boys. He lives in Ohio with his new poodle siblings Reuben and Cozette. Here is what his mom said Hi Barb:

Finally, here a some recent pictures. He continues to amaze and amuse us. I hope it’s not bad for a dog to get too many kisses :) Look at that face!

Got some new pictures of Nips/Domino too. He loves Newdy’s food :) Here’s what Su-Yun saidNewdy wants his large breed food and he wants Newdy’s small breed food??? LOL

Neither of them want their own food. Go figure. I have that same problem!!

18 days to go

18 days to go

Just 18 days to go until we get PHANTOM babies! Every time Trisha passes by Izzie, she rolls over to show off her belly. Citori did the same thing, so funny! We are very excited about our 3rd generation!

Pie AKA Lily and Maize AKA Emma have settled into their new home nicely. Their family is thrilled with them and equally as thrilled they took sisters. They took a video while they were here and watched it this morning. Patricia said Pie came running when she heard my voice, looking for me and SO EXCITED :( my baby I miss her. They are comfort for each other and adjusting very well. Doing well with potty outside and naturally monkey went home with Pie. May is naturally sad, not playing much comes to me often for lovin. Such a good girl. The boys liked having Harlee here. THEY LOVE HER HAIR! Goo absolutely needs kids, he was stuck to her! :)

I love this photo! Bella giving a big kiss to her mom Pamela’s neice, she loves kids!
Poodles and kids, a great combination!

Poodles and kids, a great combination!

Pie and Maize went home today. I just love it when siblings get to stay together. The Hartwig’s loved all three girls and it was a very hard choice but Maize LOVED the people and Pie and her monkey stole their hearts- she is such a clown! Poor Mayflower her little tail went down just like she knew :( Her perfect family will come along and in the mean time she will be happy with me, her mom Fiesta and the boys :)
Busy day today. The Hartwig family came from Detroit at 9am picked their girls, then followed me to the vet for their 3rd round of shots, then headed back east. Mayflower and I (Fiesta, Maggie, Parris, Nicole and Francis Claire too) went back home to spend the rest of the day with Harlee. This warm weather is killing me!! MUD MUD and more mud! AGH!

Patti Sue and Ruben

Patti Sue and Ruben

My big beautiful babies! Patti Sue 72lbs and Ruben 92lbs! They have black and silver babies that are SO sweet and SO BIG!! Their third litter is due April 19th. Trisha is pretty sure Izzie has Shadow babies it’s hard to tell, they have lots of room to hide the babies (they will be in Lansing). We expect brown and black phantoms due March 10th. Way too early to tell if Lexie has Jack babies. We expect those babies April 10th. Parti’s can surprise you but I’m thinking we’ll get brown/white parti babies maybe phantom. The biggest demand for puppies is spring so we’ll have lots of color and size choices.
AGH!! 37 degrees and sunny I have LOTS of muddy poodle feet (legs)! So much fun stuff to do when the ground is soft! They need baths but it is SO pointless :0

Pie 12 weeks

Pie 12 weeks

Pie and her monkey. She is so funny (like mom and grandpa Ruben), the first thing she does when she comes upstairs is grab her monkey and prances around with it. She always bites on to it the same way, she loves that thing. I was on the floor loving Mayflower (who goes limp and closes her eyes such a cuddler) and Pie put her monkey on my head and rubbed it around on my face (agh didn’t smell so good)! I guard the darn thing so nobody guts it so it can go to her new home with her. It always amazes me how many personalities come from full siblings (same with people). Beautiful Maize is so elegant (like her dad) and so affectionate (like her mom). All three ADORABLE girls! The parti boys are so sweet, so kind, so gentle. Jazz and Winston were a perfect match! Nobody plays too rough, nobody has to be boss (In fact there isn’t a boss). All they want is lovin, they are SO SO SWEET! Skittles has to kiss all the adults every time he see’s them, Toby sits and observes (that why I get such good photo’s of him) until he see’s a dispute he wants to be involved in, then off he goes. Kudos comes and sits by me for extra attention while every body is busy playing, after loved up he goes and joins in. Goo and Wonka are the social butterflies engaging everyone in play (they LOVE KIDS!). Jazz has the most wonderful tolerant personality (especially considering how her life started out).

Mayflower and Kudos

Mayflower and Kudos

My sweet babies Mayflower and Kudos! Such adorable faces and such LOVERS!! They sure know our routine and are quick to complain if altered. They love the attention and special treats they get upstairs with me. I get on the floor to love them up (I can’t resist those faces!) and immediately I have EVERYBODY!! The adults like the babies but can’t help but be jealous of them. The boys are almost as tall as Reba and Parris, they are BIG boys and SOOO SWEET!! Here’s an update from Nancy PALMER’s mom- he’s doing great in his new home Hi Barb:

I promise I will send pictures of Palmer soon. I have taken lots, but I don’t boot up the computer much at home; too busy with Palmer and the minis. Palmer weighed 21 pounds at his 12 week check up. He is at the groomers today for his “lets get acquainted session.”
We are in the middle of puppy classes and, as predicted, he is the smartest one in the class. The first class was to teach them to walk on a lead (easy), then to teach them the “sit” command (oh, it appears he already knows that one), our homework for last week was to teach them the “down” command (we mastered that before class was over). Cute the way he dives into the “down”.

We took him to Columbus a few ago with Ruben and Cosette to visit Grandma and Grandpa. Grandpa is in a wheel chair so he got some exposure there for future therapy work. They loved him and my mother-in-law is not much of a dog person.

That’s all for now. Thanks for such a great dog. I don’t think I’ve seen my husband so taken with a new puppy so quickly; he really loves Palmer. (I’ll try to get him in a picture)

Nancy T. Coyle :) love these updates!

The girls have 12 weeks shots Saturday. Then back home for baths so they can meet a new family.
Hopefully one of the girls will pick them (I suspect they all will) as picking will be very difficult, they are all beautiful, all so outgoing, so loving, all FABULOUS!! And if Pie is leaving me, she’ll HAVE to take her monkey! :)
Here are some additional pictures of CURLY (big brother to the baby girls).

Jane/Penelope

Patti Sue and Ruben’s big girl!! She will have baby sister’s and brothers April 19th!! They are such SWEET babies!! Here’s what Penelope’s mom said about her beautiful girl! Hi Barb,
Penelope and her sisters finally got to see some snow. We got 6 inches in Georgia. Penelope is big and beautiful. She is 28 inches at the shoulders and 69 pounds at one year old. She loves her big back yard and is very healthy and active (came from a good breeder). She is also a big baby and very affectionate. Her and her sister Prudence are best friends. It is amazing watching a large standard and a tiny toy poodle play together. Take care and have a good winter. Sherri & Mike & Bernie, Prudence & Penelope

We got fresh snow overnight and the babies are out having a ball! They’ll want in when their feet ice up! They are so funny! So silly when they’re wet! I love every one!!

Grace joined her new family, naturally they we’re instantly in love with her. On my way home Tom called that our power was out UGH! NO internet! I had bought the babies some new toys so I spent the rest of the day watching them play. It’s amazing how many puppies can get their mouth on one toy. They only come in when their feet are iced up. I also got some big knotted rawhides which that happily shared. They are so darn adorable :)

Checkers

Checkers

Today is the 4 year anniversary of Jazz and Checkers joining our homes. I’m so glad I found them, they love it here with us. The lake, the pontoon, the truck very happy girls. I’m so glad I could give them a second chance. If you are in a position to do rescue, do it, it is very rewarding!! It also can be very challenging but worth it. It’s a good thing I didn’t know how dangerous adding 2 adult females to an existing pack of 6 really was. But the girls were so grateful to be PETS not STOCK that they blended in without a problem. I love them they will be with me until their light goes out (or mine).

Snuggling mom

Happy Birthday to the Valentine babies from mom and little sister Maize!! They are TWO today!! I’ve been promised some updated pictures and will share them as they arrive :)
Was a really nice day today. I gave the baby girls haircuts with help from the boys who seemed to think I needed a couple of them on my lap while I tried to shave the uncooperative girls. They pulled my hair, ran off with the brush, licked my glasses and choked me with the strings on my hood. Silly boys! They had so much fun outside. Click here to see the puppies play

Tomorrow will be a busy day. I need to give Grace a bath first thing and do her nails. We need to be in Saugatuck at 11:00 to meet her new family. I can’t wait to see Niles (Maggie/Beau baby) I want to do some shopping in Grand Rapids so I’m not bringing the pups. Will bring the adults though. They love ROAD TRIPS!!

Shadow

Shadow

Izzie’s husband Shadow! Trisha is relatively sure Izzie has babies (so hard to tell) she’s due March 10th. We expect the entire litter to be phantoms (brown and black). Shadow belongs to my friend Donna who lives in Kentucky. We are so excited about these babies (all babies truth be known)!! Way too early to tell if Lexie has babies, she is due April 10th so I’m planning on the Easter theme (Easter, Peter, Sunday, Lilly, Bunny, Jelly bean, Peep, Pax) hope we have a lot of girls, we’re a little short on boy names. Patti Sue is having a really weird cycle so I haven’t given up on black and silver Ruben babies.
Beautiful sunny day today, but Dallas Texas had snow!! Oliver wasn’t impressed!

Isn’t this an adorable photo!! We got to Ithica and I opened the hatch to show the babies to Cindy, they came right over to meet her (hoping the ride was over) such friendly babies! So easy to get good pictures of them!
The brown babies are a little harder but Pie squeezed her adorable face in to see Cindy too.

Grace is going home Sunday (meeting them in Saugatuck). Her big brother Niles (Maggie/Beau 3 years old) will love having a poodle companion! She is such a little ball of fire his 80lbs won’t put her off at all!!
Babies lOVE this new snow!! they only come in to thaw the ice off their feet.
Got an update on Nips/Domino!! Hey Barb,

Just wanted to let you know that Domino got his 3rd set of shots tonight and he was very brave. He is 28 lbs. The vet said he will be quite large (he predicts 80-95lbs). He also said that he has never seen a Standard his size at 3months old. He thinks Domino is beautiful (doesn’t see many parties) and he gave him lots of kisses. Great Vet. LOL

Anyway, just wanted to tell you about our vet adventure today. Hope all is well. BTW, I hope your boys and girls find good homes soon-they’re getting so big (I wish I could bring them all home). They’re all so sweet-those brown girls are awesome and almost as big as the parti boys already. Too funny.

Talk to u soon :)

Molly/Zara

What a pretty girl!! It’s Zara (she just turned one) Patti Sue and Ruben baby!! I was hoping to have another litter of these beauties but so far her mother is not cooperating :0
Jack went home to Owosso today. And Lexie back to Lake City. I loaded up all the pups for the hour trip to return Jack to his family. A couple got sick but for the most part they did pretty well. I stopped in Mt. Pleasant to do a little shopping where they patiently waited. They were happy to get back home but ran from me the rest of the day :) wanted to avoid another ride no doubt.
Joan who organized last years PARADE sent me this: Barb

Just a quick note to remind everyone that the “Friends of Standard Poodles” will for the 2nd year, walk in the DTE Cherry Royal Parade, during the National Cherry Festival. Tell everyone to mark and save the date. We would like to have more the 50 + standards walking in the parade this year.

Last year we had 29 dogs, all standard’s, but one who we tagged as our “standard poodle want-a be”. We had a ball. This year we, Carol Thompson and I are planning to have a trailer decorated into a float. What a kick! We are asking for ideas from everyone so please encourage folks to email me. First as early as possible we need to know which dogs and owners will join us for the parade.

Many, who have adopted your dogs, live some distance from Traverse City . If you are one of those folks and plan to walk with us, please plan ahead as Traverse City really gets packed and you will have problems securing a hotel if needed. Some of us in T.C. have room for a few people and their dogs to stay with us.

Last year, we tried to get everyone together for a picnic after the parade. We were too tired. This year I have asked to committee to have us closer to the front of the parade so the dogs will be cooler and less pooped. That includes all of us. As the event nears I will be posting more details with you and as folk RSVP to me I will include their address in those postings.

I really hope we can again make the crowd smile and enjoys our pets almost as much as we enjoy them. Moreover, to let people see what incredible animals we have.

PLAN AHEAD!

JULY 10 2010, Saturday

Contact me as soon as you can to let me know if you’re joining us. If you have any ideas for our float let me know that also.

Hope to see all those from last year and meet many more new “ Friends of Standard Poodles”

See you all soon. Joan

Gig and Duke

Gig and Duke

Our Reba/Ruben babies born 12-14-05, they live in Colorado and as you can see have a wonderful loved life (2 poodles are twice the fun!!) Here’s an update from mom Lauren Hi Barb

I just wandered onto your site and had such a fun time looking at the puppy photos of Gigs and Dukey, so I thought I’d send you some recent photos. They’re both doing great and enjoying the company of their new “little” brother–an 11 year old rescue Dachshund (also from Michigan), Jack. Gigs is still the bossy one and Dukey is still my sweet boy. He hates conflict and will avoid it at all costs. But that doesn’t stop him from climbing on the kitchen counter if need be to get more food. He’s a pretty simple-needs dog: love him, feed him, snuggle in bed with him. He’s the hugger–will literally lean into you to hug. Gigs is more of the kissy type. Doesn’t want to be too constricted (ie, no hugging) but will gladly shove her tongue in your mouth when you’re not paying attention. She’s the watchdog, and I suspect sleeps with one eye open at all times, while Duke pretty much goes comatose for ten hour stretches each night. Gigs in my athlete. Duke is all about comfort and not over-exerting himself (unless there’s food at stake). Duke and Jack are best pals and they curl up together whenever we leave home. Gigs and Duke love their weekly hikes in the Rockies (Jack prefers to be carried), and all of them love road trips too. They’re quite good “hotel dogs.” They’re also both great at our annual Halloween party, which involves a lot of kids and adults. Gigs sits on the sidelines and just watches the action, but Duke gets in there and dances with the guests. During one party, I remember looking out at the living room from the kitchen and seeing a conga line dance past. Right in the middle of the dance line was Dukey, with his paws on Clare’s shoulders, and someone else’s hands on Duke’s shoulders. I thought I might wet my pants right then and there.

Well, that’s the news on Reba and Ruben’s daughter and son. We love them dearly!

Be well,
Lauren
So fun to hear about our babies!! Nice selection of photo’s too!
We hit 500 face book fans!! PAMPERED POODLES 4u the comments are fun and every so often their is a lively exchange about parti poodles (those show people who think their SOLID color are SPECIAL!) MOST of us think ALL poodles are special no matter WHAT color they are :)
I love my babies more every day, they are just so good. Having 10 puppies upstairs should be crazy but it really isn’t. They play outside (I’m a little concerned about all the pine needles, pine cones, leaves, sticks and acorns they eat but can’t really stop them!!) come in and nap then go back out. RARELY does anybody pee inside. Tom was ice fishing with some guys yesterday and the wife brought the kids to fish with dad awhile. When the kids got cold they came inside to see the pups, I was so proud of all the babies, they were all happy to meet the new people but still very polite (very little jumping and biting)! The people couldn’t believe how calm they were for their age!
We had a successful breeding this morning Lexie and Jack babies due April 10. We won’t know for awhile if we actually have babies just have to wait and see. Jack can go home tomorrow, his kids will be glad :)

Lana and Clark

Lana and Clark

TWO POODLES ARE TWICE THE FUN!! :)
Jack is here today, he smiled when he saw me and jumped right in the back of the POOHAUL like he knew why he was going with me. His boy Owen cried (2 years old), he didn’t want his Jack to leave. I had a grey poodle Beenie baby on my dash and asked Owen to hold onto it until I gave his Jack back. That was okay with him (he had these big pitiful tears on his cheeks). Those 3 kids just adore Jack :)
He is absolutely the perfect KID dog, so calm and always close by. Just the best boy!
Another day of the pups upstairs with me. They won’t have it any other way!! Poodle just HAVE to be with people :)

Tom and Lexie

Tom is 28 years old today! Seems like only yesterday he was playing with puppies :(
1993

1993

Puppies was a fun hobby we did together, just one litter a year. We would devote every minute to the babies. We’d haul them up to the cottage every weekend, then back to Grand Rapids. The kids were actually better about letting them go to new homes than I was (actually now that I think about it, they’d run off). Now Tom has his beloved Lexie :)
Babies are enjoying their day. 32 degrees today so they stay out until their wet :0 They are so funny just LOVE being up here.
Poppy is going home today and Jack (Fiesta’s dad) will be here for the weekend. Going to be crazy!

Jingle/Maurice 14 months old

This boy is clearly enjoying his life! It’s Jingle/Maurice from Nicole and Jack’s second litter (litter mate to Bella & Cosmo) what a sweetie. Here’s what his mom said HI BARB–THOUGHT YOU WOULD GET A CHUCKLE SEEING THIS PIX OF MAURICE…HE DECIDED TO RELAX ON MY BENCH AFTER I BRUSHED HIM…AS I SAID B-4..HE IS A LITTLE BOY IN A DOG SUIT!!! HAVE A GOOD NIGHT…ANITA Just the perfect home for my precious baby!!
Joann who has 2 of our boys Fozzie (Checkers and Ruben) and Gonzo (Patti Sue and Ruben) sent me this:
I get such a kick out of seeing the pictures your new puppy owners send you (just as I did when my guys were new)! It must be really gratifying for you to hear from so many of the people who have gotten dogs from you to hear how much they love them and how happy they are to have found you. I know how attached you get to all of the puppies as you give them their start in life and to know how happy your pets make people makes it easier to give them up, I hope.

My boys continue to be wonderful. Gonzo has become very attached to my husband, as Paul is now retired. He’s never too far away from him; Gonzo is now a whopping 85 lbs. with the biggest feet I have ever seen! He has a very goofy (and I mean it in a good way) and happy personality; Fozzie is more reserved and dignified, although Paul can get him riled up when they play catch, and of course we love them both!

JoAnn I love how my babies make a family complete, it really helps to part with them knowing they will be so loved. It is IMPOSSIBLE to not fall in love with each and every pup. I want them to be treasured. We never drop our price to be RID of them like other breeders do. They stay with me, as part of the household until their perfect family comes along (how ever long that takes). I can’t say that I have ever had this many pups this old before (especially brown GIRLS!) but puppy shopping goes in these really odd “waves” (I’m getting deposits for the spring litters). I do think people would rather potty train in the spring and personally winter training goes MUCH faster. It’s all business, go out- potty -come in. Makes it clear WHY we’re out there. This week they have spent all day upstairs with me and the big dogs. Since they are pretty much potty trained (total of 2 accidents in 3 days) and climb the steps it really isn’t a big deal. They love the big yard and love being in the middle of everything. It’s so good for them to meet the people that go in and out and learn from the adults DOGS what is NOT acceptable PUPPY behavior. They are ADORABLE!! Patti Sue couldn’t be happier with all the eye’s and butts to clean :)

Cosmo 1 year old

Cosmo 1 year old

Look our Nicole/Jack Christmas baby 1 year old!! I love how the speckles come out!! Got a nice update from his mom!!Hi Barb,

I know we have been bad about keeping you updated with Kringle/Cosmo. Here is Cosmo’s 1 year old picture (Dec. 18). Also I wanted to let you know that his Mom has nothing on him when it comes to jumping in the lake. He loves the water, boat, snow, walks, rides and just about everything he can do with someone around. I must say I’m a little jealous because he and Scott are real buddies. I think we need another one to be my buddy. I wanted to post on facebook but didn’t know how to do an album. So her they are…maybe you can post them for me. Thanks for a great dog!!!!!

I love the lake by mom and dad!!

ALSO got this update on NIPS/Domino!! He and his brothers are
just the best boys!! I have everybody upstairs and they are so good!! Love the big dogs, the big yard and my ANKLES! :) OUCH!
Hey Barb,

Ok, I know I send you lots of email but I have to tell you; I am beyond impressed with Domino. He is so extraordinary.

I really find it almost impossible for a 3 month old puppy to be so smart. I started thinking is Barb sure he was born 11/6 and not 12/6? LOL J Let me tell you Barb, I am so proud of this puppy. He is in the crate for about 6 hours from 9AM to about 3PM. Not one accident, not even pee pee. He will *NOT* go potty in the crate. My daughter comes home every day from school expecting to clean up a mess and every day his crate and bedding is bone dry.

What great control and intelligence. He is so clean and conscious of himself. I know people don’t believe the “sitting by the door thing,” but get this…Domino goes and gets my Ugg boot and sits it by the door when he needs to go out. Now how do you like that? LOL I taught him to “shake hands” in literally 2 minutes. Now he does it instantly when he knows I have a treat. He sits on command and waits for his food bowl giving me complete eye contact.

I know I said this before, but I am so glad I found you guys. He is such an incredible puppy. He’s a cuddler, a snuggler, and loves attention and that’s great because I couldn’t love him more. J

Chronos/Geist in SAR training with Hope

Chronos/Geist in SAR training with Hope

I love updates and especially from Hope. Chronos/Geist has important work to do in SEARCH AND RESCUE! Here’s what hope says about Geist’s training
Hi Barb and Trisha, Just an update on our boy Geist, and a couple pictures. These pictures were taken at training a couple weeks ago. Believe it or not, he and recently had a grooming. He had been going around looking like a shaggy brown bear, and the groomer took off fully half his coat. I told her I couldn’t have him shaved down, because we train outside in all weather, and he really needs his fuzz to stay warm. She used scissors and did a great job. He is 59 lbs, now and full of love for everyone.

This day, we were doing live-find tracking. Our victims were already in place when we got there, so there was no one walking away to tip him off to what we were going to do, or where they headed. Several new puzzles for him to figure out: going from a parking area/ open space to following a hiking path, having to turn off the clear path and into the woods. Also, there were two people walking together, and separating at the end of the trail so he had to make a choice as to which person to continue to follow. This is hard because he has been following a trail that smells like both these people, and he has to remember what his intended victim smells like from just a scented gauze square. This was a scent discrimination problem, as well as varied surfaces and changing landscape. Also the longest trail he had done to date. We started in the parking lot, and I gave him a scented gauze and his command to track. He did great, skirting the edge of the pavement, down a cleared walking path. We came to a wooden footbridge with gaps between the boards and running water underneath. It gave him pause, but he went on across following his scent. Halfway up the path our victims left the path and went off into the woods. No visual cues at all. Walking together through the woods, they moved away from each other toward the end. Geist was able to see one of them sitting in the woods and his tail went wild, wanting to go get pats. I told him to “leave it, get to work”, and he immediately put his nose back down and went on to find the one who’s scent he had been given at the start. Incredible!! His victims, not knowing he was just a puppy were impressed at how fast a search dog can work. They didn’t even realize how short a time he has been doing this stuff!

He has an amazing amount of drive, no matter what task he takes on. I don’t know why every SAR handler isn’t working a poodle!! He surprises everyone who watches him. Of course, I just think he is the best puppy ever!

All your puppy pictures are awesome, the parti’s are especially cute!! Can’t believe anyone could bring Fiesta back, she is such a doll.

Hope & Geist-the-Wonder-puppy FABULOUS!! What a smart BEAUTIFUL boy!!

Takoda and Sugie

Takoda and Sugie

The Anderson’s boys! Takoda (black) was the only boy from a litter Lily had with Raime (silver) 1/1/01. We were hoping to get silver but all 7 babies were black. Takoda looks SO MUCH like his mother Lily! Berry/Sugie is a Reba/Reggie baby born 2/23/08. What a beautiful pair (I know I always say that) :)
If you not using the fabulous ear cleaner you should. I found this recipe on a website and thought I’d try it. We spend so much time in the water all summer and struggle with yeast infections. Some of the ingredients are hard to find locally but are available on line (cheap) and it’s easy to make. I send some home with our new puppies (not those that fly- Homeland security would flip! Like I was sending a bomb with my precious baby!)

EAR CLEANER:
16 oz of Isopropyl Alcohol 91%
4 Tablespoons Boric Acid Powder
16 drops Gentian Violet Solution 1%

Shake well in a large shaker bottle. Crush the chunks of powder.
The purple stuff will stain until diluted, does not seem to after mixed.
SHAKE WELL WITH EVERY USE!
Flush the ears (get a bottle at Sally’s Beauty Supply used to apply hair dye, has nice long tip)
and wipe out excess with a baby wipe.
If the ear is inflamed flush daily for a week.
Flush ears every 2 or 3 weeks to keep clean.

I also use this on any injuries (even mine) nothing survives this stuff! I LOVE IT!

Babies are doing great!! Will be breeding Lexie and Patti Sue at the end of the week.
