Wonka's family
He’s our four-month-old, 33-pound standard poodle. Bred and raised so far by Barb Dunlop, an incredibly loving and clever poodle maven who lives in Mecosta, Hugo is adjusting well to the abrupt change in his living conditions.
Hugo came from a large immediate and extended canine family including seven brothers and one sister. Three of them were available for adoption and it was really difficult to choose. They are all such gorgeous, polite young men. Obviously they take after their bio-mom, Jazz (below, left), who will be retired now to a well-deserved life of leisure. Chris, Ava and Luc (see belly) made the journey with us; Ava, of course, had final approval of the decision.
Hugo was comically perplexed (and, let’s just say it, scared) of the two cats in his new home and tried to bolt out the back door when he first laid eyes on them. He’s getting braver by the minute, though and we anticipate physical contact between them soon. The cats are relentless in their quest to figure him out. Of course that’s difficult to do when Hugo is hiding behind Jackson.
They adapt very quickly. They seem to know this is their new home and they get busy getting comfortable with everything.

Comfortable

What kind of dog are you?
Goo is spending the day with his dad. He’ll be here with us another month but his dad is taking advantage of the nice day to do some leash training and get acquainted.
I gave 4 hair adult haircuts today. Ruben is going to Bill’s for a couple days. Andria (4th grade) needs him for some homework. She has to do some training with him and record it (this will be interesting) I have to send a ball and a few toys. The “subject” has to be over five (maybe they are testing teaching and old dog new tricks) or she could have used Poppy. Poppy will be here to minimize distractions, Fiesta will love that, her BFF to play with!!
